POST OF CHIEF OFFICER – Age Concern Redditch and District

Contract is for a twelve month period (Renewable).
Salary £21,006 pa (currently under review) pro rata for 22.5 hours per week (negotiable).

Age Concern Redditch and District covers a compact residential area with rural area to the south, surrounded by open countryside and located in North East Worcestershire. Redditch has a population of 80,000 and is a completed new town centred on the town’s original location with a modern town centre development. It has modern highway links out to the motorway network leading to it being quoted as the hub of England.

With the appointment of the current Chief Officer, Age Concern Redditch and District evolved from its all volunteer roots to a professionally lead organisation with a high standard of management and service provision. This is increasingly recognised throughout its partnerships with Countywide Age Concerns, local Borough and County Councils, Health Authorities and Social Services. The current Chief Officer is taking retirement but has offered to assist over a transitional period.

The post of Chief Officer is supported by an active Board of Trustees and assisted by five dedicated employed staff and thirty five volunteers in providing exceptional services to the residents of Redditch. These include the following:
 “Handyperson” home maintenance service.
 “Wellcheck” service.
 “Home and Garden” service.
 Information service, at the Main Office and a Town Centre Information Office.
 Foot care clinic by registered podiatrist.
 Computer Support sessions.
 Social Events and Activities.

Age Concern Redditch and District will expect the successful applicant to have excellent management, business and personal skills and be capable of meeting future challenges.

These include:
• Participating in tendering for the delivery of specific services across the County in partnership with other Worcestershire Age Concerns.
• Managing changes brought about by the merger of Age Concern and Help the Aged into Age UK.
