Job description
A maternity leave vacancy has arisen in the Housing Team. This Policy Officer post focuses upon,
• supporting the housing policy and related content of the new Regional Strategy, the Strategy for the West Midlands.
• Project manage key research items for the refreshed shared evidence base for the Regional Strategy
• Support Regional Homelessness work and other Vulnerable People groups
• Support Sub Regional Housing Partnerships and their delivery of Regional Strategy
• Prepare the Assembly’s response to Government regional and housing related consultations
• advise to Ministers on the use of Gypsies and Travellers sites grant (£2.5M anticipated next year) and taking through to the new Regional Strategy policies for the provision of pitches cross the Region.
A broad understanding of local authority and regional working is required as are good communication skills and ability to work under pressure. Cultural and political sensitivity are essential.

Under the provisions of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, the WMRA be replaced by new regional arrangements after March 2010. Continuity of employment for the period to 31 July 2010 is anticipated.
