Free Equality Workshops

WHAT’S STOPPING US ACHIEVING EQUALITY?

FREE WORKSHOP FOR THIRD SECTOR ORGANISATIONS

· 45 years after the first piece of equalities legislation, why have we only seen limited progress?

· what are the implications of the new Equality Act for third sector organisations?

· how can you use human rights to meet legislative requirements and improve service delivery?

At the start of Black History Month, brap are holding a free workshop for anyone interested in how to improve their organisation’s equalities practice.

Beginning with a whistle-stop tour of equality and race relations policy in the past, the workshop will examine problems and challenges with our traditional approach to achieving fairness. It will then offer practical tips on how organisations like yours can use human rights principles and law to create a better service, meet legislative requirements, and build a fairer society.

Facilitated by brap, this half-day session will familiarise you with equality and human rights concepts and explain how they can be used to solve real-life problems.

This session will:

· help you understand the importance of using human rights to achieve your organisation’s aims

· discuss the role your organisation has in promoting equality in society

· identify effective ways you can improve the service you offer to a wide range of people

· help you get to grips with current equalities legislation

· give you the chance to network with a range of other people working to promote equality, diversity, and fairness

· show you how to improve your reputation with funders

All participants will receive a FREE guide on how to use human rights to guarantee a better service for users. Developed by brap and iSE, and funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the guide is packed full of resources for you to use with your staff and really make equality come alive.
