Is the second set of modules in a series

Which are broken up in to modules

A series of four modules each lasting half a day. Each module is free standing, or can be attended in combination with any or all other modules.

Pick and choose the most relevant modules for you and your organisation, or attend them all!
Look out for the others to follow later, more details are at the end of the page.

To ensure the effectiveness of these sessions for your organisation, we encourage the relevant staff member/s from your organisation to attend together with a trustee.

Getting ready for securing resources

Overall aim
To enable voluntary and community organisations in Worcestershire to diversify their income sources.

Module 1 – planning for success (9-30am to 12-45pm)

An outline of the importance of planning in relation to securing resources, including:

Identifying who needs to be involved in the planning process, understanding the planning cycle, identifying goals and aims, developing a strategy, key ingredients of a business plan.

Module 2 – establishing and growing local support (9-30am to 12-45pm)

An outline of the importance of local support for your organisation’s work and how to make the best use of that support. The session will focus on:

Developing opportunities for people to support your work, including awareness-raising, fundraising events, regular financial support, Gift Aid.

Identifying the range of motivations of supporters and sustaining a pyramid of support.

Using evidence of local support to strengthen your case.

Module 3 – how to access and apply to grant-making trusts and the Lottery (9-30am to 12-45pm)

An outline of the key elements of a successful grant application, including:

Building a case for support, establishing need, developing a focus on outcomes, identifying your unique selling point, selling an opportunity to invest.

Module 4 – generating income through social enterprise/trading (9-30am to 12-45pm)

An outline of the ways in which charities and voluntary organisations can trade, including:
Primary purpose trading, ancillary trading and non-primary purpose trading.

Legal structures and their implications for trading.

Cost:
The modules are free, however a £10 fee will be charged for non-attendance on the day, without prior notice.
