Grant Schemes Which Work Together to Improve Home Security in Redditch and South Worcestershire

The Government has launched 2 grant schemes which work together to improve home security in 50 target areas. The target areas for West Mercia are: Redditch and South Worcestershire. (Worcester City, Malvern Hills and Wychavon). The Police cannot apply, but Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and Voluntary/Community sector organisations can.

The bids are for local organisations, and are as follows:

1. Safer Homes Fund
The Safer Homes Fund is a £6million programme for voluntary and community sector organisations. It aims to improve home security in key target areas.
Grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 are available to voluntary and community sector organisations to fund activity including fitting window locks, repairing windows and doors, advising people on using security effectively, and signposting people to further support.

2. Neighbourhood and Home Watch Fund
The Neighbourhood and Home Watch Fund is a £500,000 fund available for new and existing Neighbourhood and Home Watch groups to receive grants of between £1,000 and £50,000. The aim of this fund is to support Neighbourhood and Home Watch schemes to reach more people in helping them to secure their homes, warn them about crime in their area and take action to prevent it, and know how to prevent distraction burglary. They will work closely with Neighbourhood Policing teams to distribute the government’s crime prevention advice and use local meetings and engagement opportunities to provide crime prevention information to the public.
