March 2010 - Launch of the Big Ideas Grant
The Big Ideas Grant is a £50,000 fund aimed at helping to unlock the
potential of hundreds of small ideas and give people the helping hand they
need to prove their idea works and share them widely.
To enable health and social care services to meet the Dignity Challenge,
there is a need to think differently and find new, better ways of doing
things. Almost 3,000 people took part in a survey to vote on what they
felt were the top three dignity issues that needed addressing. The top
three voted issues were:
Treat people as individuals.
Give people a sense of purpose and stimulating activities to do.
Give people more choice and control over their daily routine.
Ideas that help ensure people's experience of care services is a good one and that they feel they are able to retain their personal dignity and self
respect, are sought. Ideas can be big or small and applicants should
think about what help, financial or otherwise, is needed to take the idea
to the next stage, to test it and prove it works.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available to individuals and organisations.
The 2010 deadline for receipt of applications is 18 March 2010.
