May 2009 - COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER

KEMP Hospice is based in Kidderminster and provides palliative care services for Wyre Forest, Tenbury and surrounding areas. We put the patient and family at the centre of all we do, providing a wide range of support to those affected by life threatening illness. At an exciting stage in our Charity’s development we seek ;-

COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER
– 22hrs per week for an 18 month project
(£18,000- £23,500 pro rata, dependant on experience)

KEMP Hospice seeks a dynamic, passionate and experienced Community Development Worker to undertake an innovative project with the Hospice and the numerous communities we serve.

The purpose of the post, which is rooted in the Compassionate Communities model of health care, is to engage with communities in order to assess the number and range of networks of compassionate support in regard to end of life care. The successful candidate will work with these groups to explore and establish the resources required in order to increase the capacity of compassion within the community.

We see this as an exciting opportunity for someone to use their considerable experience in Community Development to be part of a ground-breaking project and to work in a potentially new environment, with the additional opportunity of helping the Hospice develop and expand the ways in which we work with our patients, carers and communities.
