The VCS Voices Hub
‘The Voices’ Hub has evolved from the Engagement and Representation Subgroup of WIC. Whilst all WIC members are entitled to attend any subgroup meeting, the present membership of the Hub is:
Sally Ellison – Chair
Cathy Clement
Jim Smith
Helen Gray
Richard Quallington
The group meet monthly and takes responsibility for a range of tasks around Engagement and Representation:
- Mapping VCS representatives on County and District LSPs and their theme groups to develop recognition of where VCS representation is strong and where there are gaps
- Ensuring that individuals and organisations within the VCS have clear communication channels to and from their representatives and in turn, that the VCS is represented at all levels of planning and decision making
- Organising VCS Representatives events and training
- Developing a support programme for VCS representatives
- The Hub also works on developing clear processes for electing VCS representatives.
- A paper looking at the issues was circulated to the VCS and our statutory partners in early 2008 and we are planning to present a paper to Worcestershire Partnership in December 2008.
- Developing a process for nominating VCS representatives on to short-term opportunities
- Organising the yearly VCS Conference
- Consulting with the VCS through a clearly developed engagement process and system
- Production of the quarterly magazine for the VCS 'The Voice'
