Worcester Volunteer Centre

Worcester Volunteer Centre promotes and supports the local voluntary and community sector in Worcester.

We were originally established in 1989 as a volunteer bureau to recruit and coordinate volunteers. Over the years we have continued to develop and promote good practice in volunteer management and support. We have also extended our role by becoming a Council for Voluntary Service to promote and support the voluntary sector itself.

Our first offices were in the Angel Centre in Worcester but we quickly outgrew these and, with the help of National Lottery funding, moved to our current premises at The Tything in 1996.

We have around 10-12 staff (depending on project funding) and directly manage approximately 160 volunteers within our own projects (some have been with us since we started in 1989). In total we recruit and place around 400 volunteers a year.

Worcester Volunteer Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Our board of trustees meets on a regular basis to oversee governance and finance of the organisation. We also have a membership scheme for VCS organisations, the statutory sector and interested individuals.
